Description: This system was originally built by the Wood Duck Chapter of Trout Unlimited but was deeded to the PA Game Commission, along with 5 other Cold Stream passive treatment systems, when the Wood Duck Chapter dissolved in 2014. In 2019, the Moshannon Creek Watershed Association (MCWA) formed, and as part of its mission entered into a Cooperative Agreement in 2020 with the PA Game Commission to assume operation and maintenance activities on this system, as well as the other Cold Stream systems. The Fossil Rock system treats acidic, aluminum-containing mine discharge through treatment in a limestone basin followed by at settling pond.
