Description: The passive system treats the Mine Drift discharge from a collapsed drift mine entrance. The Wood Duck Chapter of Trout Unlimited built a vertical flow pond with limestone overlain by compost. A single perforated pipe beneath the media directed system flow through a siphon chamber with the intention of keeping the media free of metal precipitates, though this approach did not work. The Moshannon Creek Watershed Association assumed operation and maintenance activities at the system in 2019, and with a WCAP grant modified the system into a limestone bed without a siphon and instead with an intake manifold. The effluent of this systems enters the Chiller Seep System.
