Description: The purpose of this project was to renew the permits and construct a passive treatment system at the MR 8 discharge in the Morgan Run watershed. The MR-8 site is located on private land adjacent to Morgan Run in Decatur Township, Clearfield County. The project resulted in the installation of a passive treatment system consisting of two vertical flow ponds (VFP), a drainable limestone bed (DLB), and a constructed wetland. The system has an intake that essentially treats most if not all of an unnamed tributary to Morgan Run. The system also treats another small impacted stream that forms out of a forested wetland. Next to the MR8 passive system is a mitigation wetland that was constructed as a condition of building the <a href="https://www.datashed.org/mr-tuff-morgan-run/">Morgan Run Tuff (MR Tuff)</a> passive system. The mitigation wetland also receives its flow from the AMD impacted unnamed tributary to Morgan Run. During construction of the MR8 passive system, limestone was added to the Mitigation Forebay to improve the water quality entering the mitigation wetland.
