Description: This system was originally built by the Wood Duck Chapter of Trout Unlimited but was deeded to the PA Game Commission, along with 5 other Cold Stream passive treatment systems, when the Wood Duck Chapter dissolved in 2014. In 2019, the Moshannon Creek Watershed Association (MCWA) formed, and as part of its mission entered into a Cooperative Agreement in 2020 with the PA Game Commission to assume operation and maintenance activities on this system, as well as the other Cold Stream systems. The Stump and Stump Jr systems are open top limestone beds built at the locations of mine drainage seeps. Each limestone bed is piped to an adjacent concrete chamber containing a water level activated siphon. Both are directed to a single settling basin which discharges to a pipeline to a common settling pond at the Chiller Seeps PTS. Rehabilitation of the system conducted in 2022 by the MCWA repaired plumbing and cleaned and replaced stone in both basins. MCWA also installed a flow baffle in the settling pond to limit short circuiting.
