Description: A passive treatment system was installed at the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden to treat two AMD discharges from a Pittsburgh coal seeam underground mine. The discharges, identified as MD3 and MD4 are piped to a flow splitter box where they mix and are split between two auto-flushing drainable limestone beds that are situated within concrete tanks and flush to a single settling pond via ~1,250 foot long pipeline.
